'Art in the Garden'

A couple of months ago my parents stopped by my house and decided to take me out on a bit of a day trip, my parents do this all the time, and always have, it's pretty cool, they just come pick me up and take me somewhere new without telling where we're going.

Well anyway this particular day, it was just me and my mum and dad, we headed off towards Bangor direction (a little seaside town on the West coast of Northern Ireland) and stopped by a little park and had a picnic, it was really nice and the weather was great :)

But the main part of the day was when we arrived at the Culloden Hotel, Spa and Estate, it's a beautiful big castle-like hotel and it is super expensive to stay there! But on the 22nd of May 2011, it was opened completely to the public to home the sculpture exhibition, 'Art in the Garden'.

The artwork was amazing, unfortunately all I had was my phone to take photos, but it didn't do too badly, I took so many photos but here are some of my favorites below...

Culloden Gardens and Castle in the background.

I love this one, it just connects with itself so well...

Bronze figures in a copper nest.

Marble Lady.

The grounds are beautiful, even without all the artwork.

Oh so Summery :)

So many artist's work were on display...

Isn't this one fabulous? I think it totally represents fashion.

Cute tree nymph.

So silly, it's awesome ^^

She was one of my favorites on the day, she just looks so strong yet youthful.

I'm not sure if they're holding it there again next year, but I really hope so! Soooo much inspiration!

That's another great thing, well I don't get to spend as much time as I used to with my parents, now that I've moved out, but they still think about me everyday day and notice things that they know I would really love :D
I love my parents <3

Inspiration Time: Florals!

Hot Florals!

At the minute I'm totally loving all things Summery and I can't get enough of florals! I'm hoping it's a trend that'll continue even into Winter. I thought I'd just do a quick inspiration blog, of all the flowers and pretty things around me that are influencing what I wear :)

Enjoy!

Flowers at Botanic Gardens...

Cherry Blossom in the park.

More Botanic Flowers...

And finally my Easter cactus that went mad this Spring, it was beautiful! And now is totally green and unrecognisingly lol.

What inspires you this season? I hope you're out enjoying all this Summer sun we're having :)

I enjoy the Summer, but something inside me still misses the layers and hot chocolate of Winter...it's weird that, isn't it?

Oh my, Ebay

Sneak-peek time!

I don't know about you guys but I'm not the sort of person that buys things constantly, I like to gather my savings up, then splurge all in one go. Sometimes I might have weeks&weeks in between, or sometimes months&months.

It's been quite awhile since I had one of these splurges, mainly due to how distracted I was during the exam period, but at the weekend there I had a real Ebay splurge. And I thought I'd share with you a sneak-peek of my purchases, so here goes;

Tights, tights and more tights.

The loafers I told you guys about in my Shoe fever post :)

Cutest pretty patterned tights ^^

Awesome Rockabilly dress.

Doc Martens.

Tan satchel (yes those are camels).

Oh my gosh! I love these, fur-lined wedges.

Another suggestion from Bubzbeauty...it's actually a face massager :)

And finally, but oh so not least...ily? XD My early birthday present, but I'll tell you more about this in another post :D

Now all I have to do, is to wait until they all arrive, a lot of these things I bought on and before the weekend, and everything stops during the weekend, so they'll have only been posted today >.>
Which means so much waiting, I'm sorry, but I am quite impatient when it comes to deliveries.

But isn't it awesome how cheap thing are on Ebay, and I'm not even talking about, really used second hand things, but brand new awesome things! I love Ebay, it's another great source of vintage and second hand stuff :D

Hopefully I'll be able to show you my purchases when they arrive, and I'll be able to use them in my new looks for Lookbook, hurray!

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend x

Eeee excitement!

Yay! Just less than two weeks now until I move into my new apartment with my fiancé, Colin, and our best friend, Jeremy, I actually cannot wait. We were supposed to be moving in on the 1st, but characteristically like real estate people they moved the move in date nearly a week back. Bleh.I don't know if stuff like that happens with real estate people all over the world, or if it's just in Belfast. Sorry if I sound bitter, but we had unfortunate dealings last year :(

I can't believe the amount of new stuff I've accumulated over the 10 months that I've lived in this flat...I literally don't know what to with it all, for now we're just gathering everything into boxes for the move, then we'll probably go through it when we get there. This is the first time I've ever had to share a wardrope with anyone, and I've usually barely enough room in my closet for all my vintage clothes and accessories...I might have to consider selling some stuff! Although I was thinking about selling some handmade stuff, so it might give me encouragement to do that too.

For now though, I'm focusing mainly on the move, I couldn't believe the amount of paperwork we had to fill out for this move, a whole big pile of it! Plus, as Colin has a long term illness (don't worry, nothing life threatening), he gets paid his rent for him, while he's studying, so that is a huge pile of paperwork to do too >.>

It'll be great when we move though, our new place is closer to the park, and the uni, and even the gym! Plus at the minute our current house mate, refuses to do any house work, and I hate all this untidiness :(

Oh and keep posted for updates of my latest purchases, I went a bit mad on Ebay, but there were so many bargains! :D

Chictopia

Hello bloggers :)

How are you all? Feeling all Summery yet? I can't believe it's just a few days until July! It's still quite chilly here, but apparently the rest of the UK is having a heat wave! Lucky people, but for us, it's still tights with our Skirts and Summer dresses :)

Speaking of Skirts and Summer dresses, I've recently found a rather interesting new website, Chictopia, it's a little bit like Lookbook, where people can upload their looks, but you can also add to their forums and blogs and all very community orientated. And for every action you perform, you're rewarded with Chic points, you can save up these points and then redeem them on certain items on the Chictopia 'gift' section, this is great but you have to be quick, ti goes to the first 'bidder' when the item becomes available. I'm maybe not that clear at explaining, but it all explained on their website, I really recommend setting up an account to start gathering points.

http://www.chictopia.com/

It also gives you slightly more freedom than Lookbook as you can upload a few shots of your look, which I find quite good :)

Well that's all for now, I have to go make a hike to the main Post Office in town, to pick up my parcels...although the walk is made better when you know you're getting new shoes at the end of it all :D

Toodles x

Lookbook.nu

Eurgh sorry I haven't posted in a few days, but I got myself a throat infection; penicillin is not nice :(
Fortunately while I was sick I found an awesome new blog to read,
K is for Kani, she's great, she's been blogging (mainly about fashion and thrifting) for a couple of years now, so she's got quite a few followers now. You should check her out. You can let her know I sent you :)

But on to other news! I posted my first look up on Lookbook! I'm so happy, as I've been meaning to do this for awhile now, and it's going pretty well. Colin and I went to Botanic Gardens for a couple of hours to try and get some good shots, unfortunately just as we walked through the gates the skies opened and it began raining. We took shelter in the Ravine and got a few shots there, but my point-and-shoot camera's lens kept fogging up.

Luckily there was a break in the rain just as we were about to leave, so enough of my rambles here are some of the photos,

Gates into Botanic Gardens

Bleh, blurry lens >.>

In the Ravine

Colin getting some shelter from the rain. Tehe.

The weather eventually held long enough to get some outdoor shots.

These two are the ones I choose to use for my final look.

I liked this one too though

You can check out my final look here!

Boater: Primark, Jumper: Gifted, Floral Skirt: Ebay, Braces: Ebay, Military style boots: Vintage, Tights: ASDA.

So you can let me know what you think, it was only my first attempt, but I can't wait to try out some other looks I love :)

Also, I'm not sure if you see my nails, but they have little grapes on them, they're inspired by BubzBeauty, another lady I absolutely love! She's great and I really suggest checking her out, especially on Youtube. But they drove me mad actually doing them, I love makeup, but I stink at painting nails, so I'm totally chuffed they turned out so well. I'll see if I can take a close up of them :)

Well that's all, I have to go pack, but I'll explain more about that soon!

Jolly Holidays

Hello again all, I'm back! I was on my holidays for this year. My family and I went for a six day break to lovely seaside Blackpool! And it was a great opportunity for some shopping, I love going away to new places, it gives you a chance to plunder in a whole new set of shops, and this is great especially with charity shops, and I found a ton of those while I was away.

Blackpool Tower and beautiful shop fronts.

Getting to Blackpool itself is quite an adventure, we left for the docks on Sunday morning at around 6AM'ish, then spent three hours on board the ferry traveling over to Stranraer, in Scotland. Unfortunately the weather didn't seem to be on our side and we had quite a lot of rain. The next bit of the journey I always find very difficult as I suffer quite badly from travel sickness, it's the two hundred mile drive from Stranraer to Blackpool, it takes roughly four hours traveling mainly on motor ways. Although I do love seeing so many new places.

The Winter Gardens in Blackpool.

I usually love the Winter Gardens, not only is it a great venue for shows and entertainment, it also has a great indoor market, with hundreds of stalls selling everything from Star War figures, to vintage jewelery and dresses. So clearly it's a main attraction for me, but last year, during another trip to Blackpool, I discovered the main hall had been closed and the market cut right down to one small room with half a dozen vendors. As you can imagine I was quite concerned, I've seen too many of these types of market close down at home. But this year, worse was to come, we went back to the little one room market and everything was gone! We're not sure if it was closed for refurbishment, but it was completely deserted.
What I want to know is, is there anyone who can shed some light on this mystery?

Clock tower near Abingdon Street Market.

This will have been my eighth visit to Blackpool spanning over....roughly, fifteen years. But I have never seen so much change as I have in this visit. Everything seems to be changing, The Tower, the shops, the promenade even the Pleasure Beach. I'm hoping it'll be a change for the better, but as you all know change can be scary at first.

Bella Italia and other shop fronts.

The town itself is looking really well, and I took the opportunity to visit every shop I could, with occasional stops into the beautiful cafés along the way. I'll hopefully get around to taking some pictures of my Blackpool purchases, and of course post them up on Lookbook. I got a retro wicker picnic basket, I can't wait to try out (if the weather would ease up on the rain). I also got the cutest pair of dungarees and a beautiful new maxi. You would not believe the prices some of the markets sell these gorgeous maxis at! It's shocking

Blackpool's new street art.

Above is another big change in Blackpool's appearance, as well as widening of the promenade these new lights are the newest update Blackpool have added.
Personally I think they look like they came from the film set of “War of the Worlds”.

It's odd, with all this change, there are still little shops in between all the new stuff, that have been there for years upon years, and of course you can't go to Blackpool with enjoying a bit of that seaside retro'ness, I love all the little shops down on the front, they never seem to lose there charm. And when people go Blackpool and not to these shops, it unnerves me, like going to Blackpool and not buying someone a stick of rock!

Holiday shop on sea front.

Happy Summer Everyone!

(Oh and as it turns out it is Summer time! Tuesday is the Summer solstice, the longest day of the year...although in true Belfast City fashion, it is raining monsoon-like. Ah well, at least Summer is here at last. Enjoy!)

Shoe Lust

Oh my...as lovely as it is, I hate the feeling of Shoe Lust. Just going about your daily business then you see that pair of shoes. People (mainly my fiancé) always say, 'you don't need them', oh but they don't understand, when you see that pair they occupy you, they become your main focus, and usually the only way with dealing with it, is with the final purchase. It may seem silly but it seems I have shoe fever...

The main place this fever develops, for me, is in Schuh. And it's not even just with the heels, as gorgeous as they may be...

A serious case of the 'wants' with this pair.

...but it's also the boots, flats, brogues and, my personal obsession as of late, loafers and moccasins.

Fortunately, some clever person created Ebay, and when poor students (and people who love to thrift) need new shoes and clothes, they have a great and convenient place to turn. I've been using Ebay for about a year now and I have come across some great finds, including the most gorgeous pair of boots I've ever owned. And now that I'm craving another shoe fix, it seems like the prefect place to go.

And huzzah! Ebay prevails, I just won myself the most comfortable looking pair of Hush Puppies soft leather loafers, and they're exactly like the ones I nearly paid £35 for and guess how much of a bargain I got...£1.75!!! and they're brand new! :D

I've said it before and I'll say it again; I Love Thrifting ♥

Keep an eye out for the pictures I'll be posting of them on here when they arrive, and I'm sure they'll be a staple for my looks on Lookbook, when I get around to adding them :)

New Beginnings...

"Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans."

- John Lennon

As of late I have found real inspiration in these words. A lot of things have been happening lately, I've been so busy making so many plans, that I haven't noticed I'm not enjoying life to it's fullest. So I've started this blog in the hope, that by taking the time to stop and ponder at the goings on around me, that I will also remember to enjoy them more.

So these are the first big steps, right now my life is heavily focused on my chances of getting into university, I've already, for a year now, been living the life of the 'care-free' student, which, as it so happens, has probably been my most stressful year of my life...but isn't that how it goes?

My other passion at the minute, is with all things vintage and fashion. I've recently discovered lookbook.nu and oh-me-oh-my, am I hooked. It's so fascinating, and if you're in any way interested in fashion I really suggest to take a peek if you haven't already.

I hope you have taken something from what I've said here...go out and be ready for life, if life is not for living what else good is for?
Live, Love, Feel....these are the things I'll try to focus on more in life...and to try not to occupy my life with plans and ideals of what might happen...

So I'll finish with another Lennon quote;

"Time you enjoy wasting, was not wasted."

- John Lennon
